SpamRepellent Tech-Support FAQ

Who will be able to see my email?
Only the owner of the email account and your system administrator will have access to the emails. Mail-Filters personnel do not have access to the emails. Our system is as secure as any Internet email can be.

How much time does the service take? Will my emails be delayed?
The total time for our system to filter the email is typically less than 1 second.

Who do I contact if I have questions?
Please contact us at: info@mail-filters.com

How do I install Mail-Filters?
A change in your DNS server for your Internet email will need to be made. You will need to replace your MX record with a record that points your mail to our servers. The rest happens at Mail-Filters.com. It should only take a couple of minutes to be up and running.

I have changed my MX record and messages are still not being filtered. What can I do?
Sometimes spammers do not honor the DNS changes and will send to your mail server directly. This bypasses our systems and allows them to get around our filters. This can be solved by configuring your servers to only accept mail from our servers. All legitimate email senders will honor the DNS changes and the only messages that should be rejected will be from spammers. To get more information on how to lock down your servers please contact support@mail-filters.com.

Do I need any new hardware?
There is no new hardware required as our email filter service is performed on our equipment, utilizing the Mail-Filters' technology, before your e-mails reach your servers.

What do I have to do to maintain the system?
We perform all the maintenance on our servers. Once you are signed up we take care of the rest.

What is DNS?
DNS is short for Domain Name System.

What is an MX record?
A Mail Exchanger (MX) record identifies the host(s) that receive(s) email for a domain/server and is in the DNS records for the domain.
